ESPN's Tim Graham reports:

The Buffalo Bills have hired Doug Whaley as their assistant general manager, a source has confirmed to ESPN.com.

The Bills have not announced the move, but Whaley accepted their offer after spending 10 years as the Pittsburgh Steelers' pro scouting coordinator.

Whaley will work with new general manager Buddy Nix, who was hired in January. Whaley fills the void created when the Bills fired vice president of pro personal John Guy two weeks ago.

Whaley, a Pittsburgh native, spent three seasons as a scout for the Seattle Seahawks before joining his hometown team.
