Bills hire Doug Whaley as assistant GM

There are multiple reports that the Buffalo Bills have offered Steeler pro personnel coordinator Doug Whaley a position as assistant general manager and he has accepted.  Whaley will be second in command for football operations after GM Buddy Nix at One Bills Drive.

Whaley has been with the Steelers organization for the past 12 years after a stint in Seattle. He currently serves as the advance scout for the Steelers where he is responsible for breaking down the strengths and weaknesses of players from up coming opponent's rosters. He also was involved in college scouting for Pittsburgh.

Whaley was a former Western Pennsylvania High School football star. He gained some notoriety after an e-mail he sent to an assistant coach which continued a pornographic video was inadvertently forwarded to others in the Steelers organization and the NFL Commissioner.

He had been linked to the General Manager's position last year at Kansas City.
